Garage B at the new Yankee Stadium in New York City was designed with special blast force management features to protect the sports stadium in case of a terrorist car bomb attack of up to 100 lbs. (45 kg.) of explosives.

Its key feature is a 504 ft. long, 59 ft. high blast wall. Columns at the end of each wall are tied to 79 C-frames which will distribute forces of up to 400 lbs./ft2 back to the center of the structure. This will protect spectators by preventing the garage walls from blasting into the stadium.

Wall components are constructed around a very robust metal infrastructure consisting of two layers of #9 rebar, 6 inches (15.25 cm.) on-center, with custom-constructed stirrup assemblies. The garage diaphragm required huge special connections between litewalls and shearwalls with forty #7 supplemental bars poured in cast-in-place topping.

The rooftop park has 400 lbs./ft2 of earth and plant loading, and fire truck/ambulance access designed for concentrated loads of 24,000 lbs.

In addition to its protective features, Yankee Garage B is an elegant, stark white structure.
